The Numismatic collection
Initially estimated at more than six thousand coins, the collection was rearranged in the early 1980s and turned out to consist of about eleven thousand finds, which have not yet been fully studied.
It is a heterogeneous collection, including coins issued by the cities of Magna Graecia, Roman coins, Longobard and Norman mints, up to the early twentieth century.
Bilotti himself had begun to classify them, as shown by some handwritten notebooks found among his documents.
Leopoldo Cassese, director of the Salerno State Archives between 1934 and 1960, drew up a list of them that is still referred to today.
